iVend eCommerce - Managing the Gift Registry

What is a Gift Registry?

A Gift Registry is a specific type of wish list. Usually, when a customer (or a registrant) compiles a list of items they wish to receive and then hands it out to family and friends, a wish list is created.

A Gift Registry, on the other hand, is made public, and is limited to the available stock in the system. The system maintains the list for the registrant and ensures that items are removed from the list as they are purchased by customers with whom the wish list was shared.

How to enable Gift Registry?

To enable the gift registry, set the ShowGiftRegistryButtons AppConfig value to true.

You may also want to adjust the following AppConfigs:

If this is set to true, customers can add the same product to their registry multiple times. If false, they can only add each item once.


If this is set to true, the original item is removed from the user’s cart who created the wish list (registrant) when a customer adds it to the shopping cart.


Note: Enabling this feature will also enable ‘AllowMultipleShippingAddressPerOrder’ by default

How is the Gift Registry feature used?

  • Once the feature (ShowGiftRegistryButtons AppConfig) is enabled i.e. it is set to true, product detail pages on the eCommerce website will have an ‘Add to Gift Registry’ button along with the standard ‘Add to Cart’ and ‘Add to Wishlist’ options.

  • After adding products to the registry, customers are taken to the following page, where they can view the contents of their registry

  • A link that can be emailed to friends enabling access to their registry can be seen.


Searching the Registry

  • Customers (friends) are sent Gift Registry hyperlinks that take them directly to the products. If that link is not available, customers can alternatively search for friends on the gift registry page by clicking on the ‘click here’ link at the top of the page.

  • When the link is clicked, it shows the Gift Registry Finder (search) page as shown below.


Note The registrant’s gift registry settings determine how this search returns results. The settings can be configured at the time of first visit to the registry.

I want my Gift Registry to be anonymous

If this is set to 'Yes' then customers cannot search for registrees by real name, they must search by nickname - set below.

If anonymous, I want to use this nickname for my gift registry

This is the nickname the customer will provide to search for if they need to remain anonymous.

I do NOT want other customers to be able to see my shipping address

If this is set to 'Yes' then even when purchasing a gift for a registree, the purchaser will not see the shipping address.

I want other customers to be able to search for my gift registry

If this is set to 'No' then the customer's registry cannot be found through the search tool (by name or nickname), it can only be accessed by the link.


Default list of Gift Registry items

  • Each customer can view the Gift Registry page in the Your Account section.

  • On Your Account Page, click on ‘View Your Gift Registry’ link to go into Gift Registry finder page.


  • You can search for a Gift Registry item and then click on the ‘Add To Shopping Cart’ button to add the product to the shopping cart and purchase.


  • Click on the ‘Checkout Now’ button to checkout.


  • The checkout process is consistent with the default shopping experience. You can add the shipping information of the customer who made the Gift Registry to ship the purchase item directly.  Click on ‘Continue Checkout’ button.


  • Complete the purchase
    • Select a Shipping Option
    • Selection a Payment Option
    • Pay and confirm the order.
